About Camp Galil / Who We Are
Habonim Dror Camp Galil is set in the beautiful fields and forests of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, less than an hour away from Philadelphia. Serving the Philadelphia Jewish community for over 60 years, the tzevet (staff) of Galil has and continues to be dedicated to our chanichim (campers) and guarantees them fun, safe, and memorable summers as well as year-round activities.
Camp Galil is more than the average summer camp. It has sports, swimming, arts and crafts, songs, campfires and special days just like any other camp, but there is an indefinable element of fun in everything that happens during the summer.
One key to our success is our unique “youth leading youth” formula. Grounded in our historic and dynamic partnership with Habonim Dror Labor Zionist Youth, Camp Galil truly “walks the walk” of youth leadership by empowering our talented counselors to plan and implement all aspects of Camp Galil's educational program. The madrichim (counselors) plan daily activities on issues relating to Israeli history, social justice, Judaism, politics in the US and abroad, and more. 
Camp Galil Is:
- A Kibbutz atmosphere/cooperative living
- A leadership training program
- A well rounded sports program including high and low ropes obstacle courses
- Plentiful well balanced kosher meals and snacks
- Co-educational - ages 9-16
- Jewish Culture:
- Spiritual Shabbat experience
- Kabbalat Shabbat and Shabbat dinner
- Israeli folk dancing
- Havdallah
- Out-of-Camp trips, both educational and recreational
- Swim program run by American Red Cross certified lifeguards
- 24 hour Infirmary staffed by Nurses, Physicians, and other health professionals, with doctors on-call
- A conversational Hebrew language program - daily learning in a fun environment
- Scouting (Tzofiut in Hebrew)
- A nature Center, including camp garden and hands-on animal care
- Arts and crafts
- Weekly laundry service
- MBI and Workshop: Israel Abroad programs for older groups
Camp Galil has created successful and fun summer experiences for thousands of kids throughout the tri-state area since 1946. Schavot (age groups) at Camp Galil are as follows:
- Amelim (laborers) – just completed grades 3 or 4
- Chotrim (rowers) – just completed grade 5
- Sayarim (patrollers) – just completed grade 6
- Tzofim (scouts) – just completed grade 7
- Bonim (builders) – just completed grade 8
- Bogrim (graduates) – just completed grade 9
- MBI (Israel trip) – just completed grade 10
- Madatz (Junior Counselor program) – just completed grade 11
