This year's fabulous team of directors (we call them mazkirut) are unbelievably talented individuals, who have stepped up for the leadership role of running camp. We break up mazkirut into four different jobs in order to divide the responsibilities between people.
This summer's Co-Director is the beautiful Kali Rifkin Silverman. She is a student at Temple University, studying Spanish and Urban Planning, and will be studying in Madrid next semester. Her job is to oversee the campers this summer, and to make sure that they are all safe and having fun.
Molly Rifkin Wernick, our lovely Co-Director, just graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in Communications. She spent this spring working as an intern in Washington DC. Molly will be overseeing the counselors this summer, and ensuring that we are doing everything we can to make this summer amazing. A fun fact about Molly and Kali is that they are first cousins!
Our Technical Director this summer is my fabulous older sister, Sophia Carol Bernstein (okay, maybe I'm biased) who will be taking care of the technical scheduling and planning aspects of camp. Sophia attends American University in Washington DC, where she is a double major in Religion and Spanish.
Our Educational Director this summer is Shiah Yuda Irgang Laden. He is the director of programming and education at camp, and is one of the most creative and talented educators around. Shiah just graduated from Goucher College where he studied Creative Writing. A fun fact about Sophia and Shiah is that back in the stone age (1980, i believe) their fathers ran our sister camp, Camp Moshava together.
Finally, our Israeli Emissary is Ronit Cohen. She currently lives in Philadelphia and runs the year round programming (called the eizor or the ken) but grew up in Israel.
