A Dutch Springing Fun Kupa Trip!

Hello, Galil Friends and Family!

Following a special day of bocoup, today was kupa trip! The whole machaneh (camp) took a trip to Dutch Springs, a large lakefront with lots of water elements and fun for all!! The quarry is 50 feet deep and offers an array of fun inflatables for kids to jump off, splash in, and jump on. Everyone strapped on their life vest and spent the day swimming around. Our chanichimot (campers) climbed the huge inflatable icebergs, played on the water seesaw, bounced on the aqua trampolines, and sent one another flying on the massive jump launcher! Chanichimot who didn’t want to go in the water enjoyed time under the machaneh’s reserved tent, where they played various card games, tossed a frisbee around, and had long talks with their friends.

Dutch SpringsFor lunch, we brought out our grills and had a festive barbecue. Burgers, hot dogs, veggies, the perfect lunch for a hot day in the water. Everyone ate together picnic style, and enjoyed the sun while the rain held off. When it began to drizzle for a few minutes, we all grabbed our bags and ran underneath the tents!

In what seemed like an eternal curse of cloudiness this week, the sun decided to come out after lunch and let our chanichimot enjoy some time in the water with the sun shining. The chanichimot put on their life vests, goggles, and of course, sunscreen! When it was time for us to leave, we were all sad to go, but we had enjoyed a great day and were surely tired.

We will spend the rest of the day chilling out, we are all pretty tuckered out from a long day in the water. Tonight’s tochnit erev (nighttime activity) will be a pajama party movie night, where the chanichimot can bring their blankets, dress in their PJ’s, and enjoy a movie with popcorn. We are looking forward to a relaxing time after a very active day.

Today was a hoot, and we just can’t wait for the weekend tomorrow for us to enjoy Shabbat. Hopefully, the sun will be kind to us again, and we won’t have to wear our raincoats on top of our Shabbat outfits!
