A Very Happy Thursday

Shalom Chaverim V’Misphachot,

Shalom Friends and Families,

peepsYesterday was a day full of mystery and fun..but today we are back to our normal routine. We were visited by a wonderful delegation organized by the Jewish Federation and Greater Philadelphia. The delegation brought representatives from local synagogues and community organizations* who are interested in exploring the magic of Camp Galil and our 75 year history. They came during hitkansut boker (morning flag raising) and stayed until aruchat tzorayim (lunch). Our chanichimot (campers) gave them a little taste of who we are and how we build our world. There was extra loud shira (singing) at breakfast and the Madatz (post-11th grade junior counselors) ran a few interesting discussions. One included a conversation about body image in pop culture, and another, on the importance of self-care and being healthy.

Down at the ropes course, the Bonimot (post 8th grade) faced their fears as they conquered the giants latter, zipline, and heebee jeebees! All of the chanichimot cheered on their friends as they used strength and determination to accomplish great heights and goals. I am so proud of them!

The Tzophimot (post-7th grade) have a special day today. Their madrichimot (counselors) planned this day to be yom tzophimot (tzophimot day) to give them a day full of fun activities to help them bond and grow together as a kvutzah (age group). In addition to a water balloon toss and relay game, they are watching movies, taking some nap time, having a private pool party, and making dessert for them to eat later tonight.

Today has been a great day with great fun. Tomorrow is the third Shabbat of machaneh (camp), and I can’t believe it is going so fast!

Catch you tomorrow!
