Shalom Chaverim V’Mishpachot,
Shalom Friends and Families,
As if there wasn't enough excitement yesterday between pickles and planes, our chanichimot (campers) woke up ready to wish a happy birthday to the U.S. of A.! Following a colorfully patriotic breakfast, we all joined in for a rambunctious round of our favorite patriotic tunes.
On a normal day, we save post-meal song sessions for after lunch and dinner, but there was a special energy in the air that we just couldn't deny. Maybe it was the pancakes and the berries or maybe the *slightly* cooler temperatures. Whatever it was, we didn't mind it a bit.
Our peulot (activities) today have had some slight independence day themes to them.We ask our chanichimot questions about who they are in today's America and what that entails. We celebrate our freedom of speech and religion. We tell the stories of our parents and grandparents and great grandparents who immigrated to America looking for a better life. We enjoy our freedom and remember it is not to be taken for granted.
For dinner tonight we will enjoy an extra special cookout in Hyde Park! And after the sun goes down this evening we will give the entire Machaneh Galil community a special July 4th fireworks show before a good night's rest for the extremely splashing surprise we have in store tomorrow.
Special shout-out to our friend, Miranda who let us sub in for today's post while she is on her day off.
Get ready for tomorrow! It's going to be unbelievably fun!
