Shalom Chaverim V’Mishpachot,
Shalom Friends and Families,
After an amazing day at Camelbeach splashing in the lazy river, facing fears going down waterslides, and relaxing by the wave pool, machaneh (camp) is back on track. But today is no ordinary day, it is time for Shabbat! As we say here at Galil…”it smells like Shabbas up in here”! Last night, it finally rained here in Ottsville (!!!) breaking the week long heat wave. The chanichimot were champs at keeping cool and knowing how to have fun despite the spike in weather.
Our machaneh has been greeted today with light rains and overcast skies. The weather has been our friend today, and the chanichimot have enjoyed the drizzle of relief that mother nature has gifted to us for Shabbat. Early in the morning, we worked hard cleaning machaneh so that we can enjoy our Shabbat in clean spaces. Later, the Madatz (post 11th grade junior counselors) ran activities for the younger chanichimot at camp.
During lunch, Galil had some visitors from Congregation Adath Israel on the Main Line. Chanichimot that attend that Synagogue got to meet with their Rabbi, catch up with their director, and have fun telling them about their summers so far.
Machaneh is currently enjoying some free time before they have free swim and mischak hashavuah (game of the week). All chanichimot are welcome to play ultimate frisbee today before they start to get ready for Shabbat festivities. Later in the evening, the chanichimot will meet in mishpachot (families) to reflect on their weeks and to share what they are most excited for looking into Galil week three!!
Shabbat Shalom! And remember, we'll be back on Sunday with great stories to share from the weekend!
