Shalom Chaverim V’Mishpachot,
Shalom Friends and Families,
This morning, our chanichimot (campers) woke up thinking that today was going to be a totally normal day. After all, we pickled on Monday and then celebrated our independence on Tuesday complete with a fireworks show AND an England vs. America Ultimate Frisbee game. But no, today was not a normal day at all! Before everyone knew it, they were on the busses with bathing suits, towels, their sweet new Galil T's, water bottles, and sunscreen en route to an exciting adventure.
Shortly after 11AM we arrived at Camelbeach water park up in the Poconos-- a fan favorite of the Camp Galil community. Each member of our tzevet (staff) took a small group from each shicvah (age group) around the park to explore all of the elements they had in store. Still waking up from the bus ride? Grab a tube and relax along the lazy river. Love teamwork? Grab your team and a giant raft and swish and swirl down a massive water slide. Not into water rides? Take the ski lift up to the top of the mountain and enjoy the panoramic views.
After reconvening for lunch, the groups mixed up a bit after figuring out what rides everyone wanted to tackle and went back out in the park for more fun in the sun throughout the rest of the afternoon! No doubt we'll see many sleepy smiles on the bus ride back to machaneh (camp) and enjoy a delicious dinner and a relaxing evening.
No surprises tomorrow. We're getting ready to welcome shabbat after a hot but exciting second week at machaneh.
Special shoutout to Bogrimot (post-9th grade), Cassidy, Laney, and Raz who helped take many of our photos this afternoon.
