Shalom Chaverim V’Mishpachot,
Shalom Friends and Families,
We are back from a very beautiful and fun Shabbat. Yesterday, the machaneh (camp) took a break from the normal routine to take the day to rest and reflect on our past week. The chanichimot (campers) slept in late, participated in a weekly music-based talent show called “Musicale”, attending a big medura (bonfire), and ended the night with a bowl of glida (ice cream)!
This morning, our Amelimot, Chotrimot, and Sayarimot (post 3rd-6th grade) left machaneh on a trip to see some wonderful teva (nature). They even got to go into a cave to cool down from this Pennsylvania heat wave! Later in the evening they will return to machaneh, and join the rest of us for dinner and an evening activity with each shikvah (age group). Tomorrow, the younger chanichimot will venture out of machaneh again to pick berries!
Here at machaneh, the Tzophimot, Bonimot, and Bogrimot (post 7th-9th grade) followed the normal schedule. The Tzophimot (post 7th grade) went down to the creek for reflective bonding, and the Bonimot (post 8th grade) and the Bogrimot (post 9th grade) spoke about youth rebellion and how social justice activism is crucial for building a better world.
Because of the heat today, all of machaneh went to the pool for a pool party instead of doing normal sports! Everybody loves a good pool party, especially the chanichimot of Galil!
