Shalom, Galil Families!
Once each session, the day-to-day structure is interrupted for a themed special day. This session, the theme was Boogie!
At hitkansut boker (morning assembly), a seemingly never-ending dance to “Blame it on the Boogie” was interrupted by the Boogie Squad, a group of suspiciously stylish and enthusiastic dancers.

With newfound glitz, we made our way to an 80’s diner breakfast of biscuits, eggs, vegetable sausages, grits, and vegetarian gravy. We then learned the song of the day, set to the theme of “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees. Lines such as “Come on help us understand, how can we dance without a plan” echoed throughout the Chadar Ochel (dining hall).

After breakfast, Chanichimot had a blast in a carnival of boogie activities. Three-legged races in bell-bottomed pants, karaoke at the Mo, and our accessorization station were all hits! To finish, Chanichimot took a conga line to Just Dance.

Unfortunately, the festivities came to an end when we found the Boogie Squad were actually Boogie Monsters siphoning away our energy. Upon this revelation, Chanichimot ran after these betrayers around camp in an epic chase!

With the monsters apprehended, it was time for a taco bar lunch! Once we were all satiated, we laughed and cheered through the music videos each Kvutzah (age-group) had recorded earlier that day.

Next, Chanichimot braved a haunted house left in the wake of the Boogie Monsters. Clues in the houses led them to a shaving-cream fight on the basketball court.

After washing off with a hose, we regrouped for an epic pool party!

On the way to change and shower, chanichimot were greeted with a delicious snack of s’mores!

After rinsing off, chanichimot went on a scavenger hunt throughout Machaneh (camp). Their search was for keys and candy stolen by the boogie monsters.

With the keys found, chanichimot circled up to watch counselors duel with the Boogie Monsters.

Justice prevailed, so we went to celebrate with a feast of chicken/tofu skewers and mixed vegetables. Finally, we ended the day with a Messibah (party) after dinner. After making the way past our bouncers, Chanichimot danced, gorged on cotton candy, and posed for photos in fancy costumes.
