Final Shabbat

Hey Galil families, we had our fourth and final Friday today. There was definitely bittersweet energy today, as everyone cherished their time while also getting ready to say goodbye to many of their friends. We started the day with hitkansut boker followed by a mountain of muffins for breakfast. Then, we had extended periods of avodah and nickayon tzrif. Everyone cleaned extra hard for the golden broom! After everyone’s spaces were sparkling, it was time for Madatz peulah, a time where the Madatz run activities for their kids. A few groups did a guessing game with water balloons that led to a pool party!

Once everyone had dried off, we headed to Shabbat shira, our weekly session where we learn songs and compete to see who has the most energy! The Bonimot (post 8th graders) sang with the most passion and got called first to get pizza lunch! Next, we had some chofesh before free swim, which was much needed on a hot day. We rinsed off before putting on nice clothes for our Shabbat traditions. First was michpachot (family time), where we reflected on the week and shared what we were looking forward to. The kids in my mishpacha who are leaving on Sunday had some really sweet reflections, and it was awesome to see their growth throughout the session. Then, everyone gathered together again into their age groups for a blessing and to sing some songs.

Kabbalat Shabbat was next, which is a presentation of an English song, Hebrew song, and dance by one age group per week. This week it was the Amelimot (post 3rd and 4th graders) which was a recipe for cuteness! Finally, it was dinner time. After blessing the wine and challah, we had a feast of chicken, mashed sweet potatoes, couscous, salad, and homemade hummus. Following dinner was rikkud, our Israeli dancing which one of the most anticipated times of the week. Those who stayed until the end got to enjoy some watermelon! We’re all going to need our sleep tonight, as tomorrow is the last night of the session! See you tomorrow!
