Welcome back folks, the chanichimot (campers) had an exhilarating opening day! To start the day the kids woke up to great weather, but hot weather. Chanichimot then continued to Hikansut Boker (morning flagpole) and sang our morning songs. Afterwards we watched the morning Ivrit Shimushit (useful Hebrew) skit that’s Aladdin themed this session!
After learning the word fork in Hebrew (mazleg), we made our way towards breakfast where we had eggs, waffles, and our usual cereal bar. Following breakfast the Chanichimot were split into Avodah (chores) groups, that includes things from cleaning up breakfast to taking out all the trash in camp. After Avodah came Nikayon Tzrif (cabin cleaning time), then Peula Shicvah Alef (age group activity #1) which is usually more educational than active. Finally, lunch came where we had eggrolls, dumpling soup, and tofu.

After a bit of Menucha (rest time), we went right into Zman sports where we played ultimate frisbee, soccer, and basketball. Unfortunately sports got cut short because of rain and we also had to cancel Schiyah Chofshit (free swim), but of course we had enough clear skies to give the kids Kibbud (snack). After kibbud came chuggim (interest groups) where kids then broke into Zman Shira (singing time) where the kids learned some dances from rikud (Isreali dancing).

Shira was followed by Hikansut Erev (evening flagpole), which was followed by dinner- salad bar with deli meats! Following dinner came the Tochnit Erev (evening activity) which was halloween themed. I personally dressed up as a witch and spooked David Hd. But, putting that in the past, the Chanichimot had to complete various spooky activities such as listening to scary stories from the rosh (head of camp), or going trick-or-treating.
After a sweet and scary day, it was time to go to sleep. We sang Rad Hayom, our song to traditionally close out the night, and then all went to sleep. Lilah Tov!
