Kupa Trip!

Today was kupa trip (camp trip) at Machaneh Galil! Before heading to the toren (flagpole) for hitkansut boker (morning assembly), all of the campers packed a bag for the day with sunscreen, a towel, and a change of clothes. At ivrit shimushit, we learned the hebrew word for ok, beseder, as Adam Sandler took a stand against the campers at Camp Swampshine during an impromptu Passover Seder.

To prepare for our day out, we had a hearty breakfast of waffles and hashbrowns. We quickly cleaned up, and then it was time to board the busses and go to our first stop, the Hopewell Quarry. Hopewell Quarry is an incredible swimming hole fully staffed by great lifeguards. After a quick swim test, campers enjoyed swimming and diving into the quarry, taking a dip in the pool, playing volleyball, and chilling by the picnic tables. The quarry was the perfect way to relax and have some fun in the sun. Before we knew it, it was time for lunch: burgers!

After eating, we cleaned up our scraps, and then headed back on to the busses for a quick 30 minute bus ride to the Del-Vue Arcade for the second half of our trip. We were greeted with balloons and a fog machine beckoning us inside. We had the arcade all to ourselves, and campers went wild playing pinball, claw machine games, pool, lawn games, singing karaoke, and snacking on unlimited popcorn. By far the most popular souvenirs were the food-themed stuffed animals and rubber ducks from the claw machines. One more trip on the bus, and we were back at camp. After some quick downtime, we had dinner; a nourishing meal of pasta bolognese, corn, and of course selections from the salad bar. Then we had chofesh (rest time) before each age group did a fun activity together for the rest of the night—the perfect way to end an awesome day. See you tomorrow!

We did have Aliyah Bet last night – led by the Bonimot. We’ll share more about that in the next blog!
