Galil Blog
Hello Galil families! On the first of August we woke up extra early to get everything in order and on the buses to head to our first activity. Before we headed to the campsite, we made a trip to Brecknock Orchard to take a wagon ride around the farm and learn about farming. We then got to walk through their orchard to pick some blackberries for ourselves! Before we left, the chanchimot got to enjoy apple cider slushies provided by their staff.

As we got back on the buses, the sun began to come out to brighten the rest of our day as we drove to Hickory Run state park where we would be spending the night. Our lovely teva (earth/nature) specialists, Noa and Jonah, distributed the tents to every shichva to set up before starting the activities. Once sleeping arrangements were set, we enjoyed many hamburgers and hotdogs grilled by our wonderful tzevet mitbach. After dinner everyone met with their age group for a teva themed peula. All age groups learned how to appreciate nature from a new perspective and how to treat it consciously. They discussed the importance of spending this time in nature in a different way than our normal day to day camp life.
With the sun slowly setting, we started to build our medura (bonfire) to bring our Saturday night traditions into a new space. Everyone gathered around one bonfire to sing songs and enjoy some medura acts. Then it was time to return to their tents and get some rest.

The next morning we woke up to a bagel spread and a variety of fruits to fuel up before our hikes. The younger and older kids were split up to take on different trails. Once everyone got back to our campsite, we loaded the buses and headed back to Machaneh Galil. We were back in time to have some free swim and lots of shower time. We ended our day with the screening of Sing 2 outside the mini mo.
Until next time!
