Galil Blog

Goooooood morning Galil (said in my best Robin Williams impression)!!!! This Saturday started out still a bit in the dark thanks to last night’s storm, but nonetheless sleep-ins were taken advantage of and jelly donuts were served roll-in style. With proof of our breakfast, in the form of jelly marked cheeks, our chanachimot (campers) made their way to Bogrimot Chugim (Rising 10th grader-run interest groups). Choosing from a variety of options ranging from chill to active vibes, kids enjoyed a restful hour before shifting onto a more serious note with Chugim Ritzinim (Serious Interest Groups). Kids had the option to choose from MBI (A how to from our post MBI Sollelimot), How to Hold a Cockroach (an audiobook listen and discussion), Safety-ism (A discussion of safety-ism in and out of Camp), and last but certainly not least (can you tell which one I ran?) we had the Prosecution of Prostitution (the decriminalization of female sex work).

After deep conversations were had, lunch was served in classic Saturday fashion with trays decked out with crispy falafel, warm pita, and crunchy Israeli salad, and spread throughout camp for Schikvot (Age Groups) to enjoy together. The rest of the afternoon was a relaxing Shabbat with Sport of the Week and Schiya Chofshit (Free Swim) sandwiched in between some much deserved Chofesh (Free Time).

To begin the closing of Shabbos, we had a joyful and, at times silly, Musicale where kids had the opportunity to show off their musical gifts, before a delicious dinner of chicken burgers and brussel sprouts. Before the sun set, we gathered in a circle outside the Mini Moadon for a lovely Kumzits (Group Singing), before spiraling our way into Havdalah for songs, prayers, and much needed hugs. Then with a slight change of location due to another blackout, we gathered in the Moadon for delicious Glida (Ice cream), and made our way to the Tzrifim (cabins), with stories and songs shared by Bogrimot to put us to bed (which was easy enough with the blackout putting us in a sleepy mood already).
