Shabbat shalom, Galil families!
Between the rain, the power outage, and the arrival of the solelimot (pre-madatz), there wasn’t a dull moment this Shabbat. After hitkansut boker, a muffin breakfast, and some educational activities with the madatz, we had Shabbat shira! The loss of power midway through didn’t dim the kids’ ruach one bit. They headed off to get lunch. Everyone loved the variety of pizza flavors, plus the delicious salad!
After resting up a little, chanichimot played rain sports. It’s like regular sports, except while it’s raining! Frisbee and soccer tested their skills, as everything was more slippery than usual.
Then, everyone got into their mishpachot (family) groups to discuss how the week went. Next, everyone strolled to the toren for hitkansut. We gave hugs, high fives, handshakes, and said “Shabbat Shalom.” Afterwards, it was time for the melafafonimot to perform their Kabbalat Shabbat songs and dance. The crowd loved it!
Then, we sang our pre-dinner Shabbat songs in front of the mini mo, which continued inside the chadar as we prepared for aruchat erev. The melafofonimot led us in the prayers and then it was time to dig in! For dinner we had green beans, challah, soup, chicken, potatoes, and tofu.
The oneg was so awesome that the amelimot’s performance caused the power to come back just in time for rikkud. Hooray! We danced, then the golden broom was awarded to the chanichimot with the cleanest tzrif, and then we celebrated Naama’s birthday.
Saturday morning started with a delightful sleep in and breakfast of donuts and cereal. Kids attended both bogrim chuggim and chuggim ritzinim before having madatz pish. This week, the solelimot (pre-madatz) substituted for the madatz, who were taking a well-deserved break after revo.
Everyone ate lunch by kvutzah, played games, and read their mail. During chofesh, we played more sports and soaked up the sun all around machaneh. Then it was time for kibbud, which was fruit cups. Some people worked on a painting project while others chilled in the hammocks or practiced solving rubik’s cubes.
Before long, it was musicale! Chanichimot showed off their musical talents through songwriting, singing, rapping, and playing instruments. The acts were quite impressive this week. For dinner, we had a burrito bar, allowing everyone to customize their fillings and even the way it’s rolled.
As the evening grew darker, it was time for kumzits, havdalah, and medurah, and glida! A relaxing end to the week was just what we needed. Laila tov!
