Galil Blog

Good morning, Galil families! Or should I say good evening? Today was special day Stonehenge, where bizarre things happened all over camp. When we woke up, we saw a huge stonehenge stone in the middle of the kikar (field). This would be the first of many strange occurrences throughout the day. At hitkansut boker (morning assembly), each schichva stood in the wrong spot, we sang our flag-raising songs out of order, and instead of learning Hebrew for ivrit shimushit, we learned French.

At breakfast, the plates were arranged weirdly, we had oatmeal and tomato soup, and we sang songs during the meal. We had the rest of our morning as normal, but things got really weird at lunch. We had pancakes, eggs, and hashbrowns for breakfast, I mean lunch. After more strange plate arrangements and singing during the meal, our groundskeeper, Jeff, came in with his metal detector and told us that he was getting weird signals coming from all around camp. Just then, a furry, humanoid figure ran past the chadar ochel (dining hall) and into the mini mo. The kids quickly realized that we had been visited by Bigfoot.

It was revealed that the mini mo was actually area 51, so the campers attempted to storm the mini mo to uncover the secrets hidden inside. We met an alien who told us to go to the pool where we would meet more of his kind. We all went for a swim with our new extraterrestrial friends. After the pool, we had a rotation of exciting activities that put the special in special day. By far the center of attention was the mechanical bull, which entertained us for hours. Everyone took a spin on the metal mooer, even our executive director, David Weiss. Campers put their minds together to solve escape room puzzles and took a ride in the truck into the woods, where we met Bigfoot once again. We chased him across camp to dinner where we had chicken sliders and fries with an assortment of curious condiments. Then we all gathered at the mo for a messibah (party)!

We danced the night away with roller skating aliens. There was plenty of candy to go around and the DJ kept the vibes pumping all night. We celebrated multiple birthdays and everyone finished the night off with some cake. That’s a wrap for special day Stonehenge. Goodnight, sleep tight, and don’t let the bigfoots bite!
