Sunday

Shalom Galil families!! This Sunday was certainly one for the books with fun jammed into every hour of the day. In fact, fun started far before the normal day began, with Bogrimot (Rising 10th graders) waking up at 6am (!!) to prepare for Bogrim Tiyul (Camping). What was on the agenda this year? White water rafting. That’s right. 14 kids stacked into a raft gliding down foaming waves steering to stay afloat! Jealous yet? Unfortunately my invite was lost in the mail. I know, the second year in a row is a bit crazy, but I was promised a spot on next year’s trip so fingers crossed!! Anyways, back at camp we welcomed the new week with what was supposed to be regular programming, with a morning full of bagels and schmear, a bit of catch up Avodah (Chores), and Nikayon Tzrif (Cabin Cleaning). However, as aforementioned, this was no ordinary day.

With 20 Galil-ers already MIA, the Tzophimot (Rising 8th graders) joined in on the fun and hit up the ropes course! As Giant’s Ladders were conquered, Elements were faced with brute determination, and the zipline was shown who’s boss (even if it took a bit of convincing from friends on the ground), the rest of camp was welcoming our Rookies! Rookie Day commenced with a tour of our machaneh (camp), before a classic lunch of chicken nuggets and french fries for all. Yum!! Then, with Tzophimot (Rising 8th graders) still adventuring in the woods, our small but mighty remaining kids enjoyed a more typical afternoon, our first sunny one in a hot second (pun intended 😉). Next, volleyball, football, and pickleball simultaneously occurred with energy spared for a much needed Schiya Chofshit (Free Swim).

Following a yummy break for Cheezits, chanichimot (campers) took a relaxing moment as Chuggim (Interest Groups) joined together for a meditation in the Moadon. Lights off, relaxing music playing, and guided breathing? I nearly fell asleep while taking photos! Much to the dismay of our newly soul-clensed chanichimot, who probably could have stayed at Chuggim the rest of the day, Pish Bet started and kids divided up into their schikvot (age groups) for Peulot (Activities). Finally, to close out the night, we enjoyed a burrito bar dinner, fit with a multitude of options down to the spicy mayo topping. With bellies properly filled, we once again split into our schikvot for Tochnit Erev (evening programs) that consisted of movies, swimming, and all around kef (fun). We eventually wrangled the kids into bed, as sleep was much needed tonight for a special next two days that may or may not involve the woods, tents, and…s’mores???
