Terrific Tuesday!!!

This morning chanichimot (campers) woke up to a bright sun-shining morning. We headed to the toren (flag pole) for hitkansut boker (morning gathering) and raising the flag! Our tzevet (staff) put on a creative, fun skit for ivrit shimushit (useful hebrew). The hebrew word of the day was פרי which means fruit in English. Then we headed off to breakfast for a yummy scone-filled meal along with fruit, oatmeal, cereal, and music to complete everything.

After breakfast chanichimot (campers) headed to their avodah (work groups)! Chanichimot helped clean up the meal, took trash out around machaneh (camp) and some of our older chanichimot continued to prepare the fire pit for our medurah (fire) this weekend! We then transitioned into nikayon tzrif (cleaning cabins) and then into sadnaot! In sadnaot, chanichimot work in our gan (garden), hang out with the madatz (counselors in training), spend time in the beit o (art house), and help prepare food for lunch in the mitbach (kitchen).

We moved into our first peulah (age group activity) of the day after sadnaot where our tzevet (staff) create fun, engaging programming and activities for the kids to do with their kvutzah (age group). For example, the sayarimot (age 12) had their kupa asepha today, which is where the kids, as a kvutzah, decide on how to spend their group budget. Chanichimot can request snacks and games to share, as well as donate their budget to a charity of their choosing! The amelimot and chotrimot (ages 9 to 11) had time in the pool and cooled off before lunch.

For lunch we had hot dogs, french fries, and salad for lunch along with tons of water! We sang songs after the meal, until transitioning into chofesh (free time). After some down time chanichimot continued into day 2 of our week long sports tournament! We worked on our frisbee skills in our teams and cooled off under a brief drizzle. The rain didn’t last long though, and chanichimot were happy to jump in the pool for schiya chofshit (free swim) after sports!

After all of that, the chanichimot were happy to have time to shower and grab kibbud (snack) before heading to chuggim! Chuggim are our clubs that allow chanichimot to meet kids from other kvutzot (age groups) and engage in an activity they’re interested in. One group dressed up in costumes and formed a marching band with some of the instruments at camp. Specifically the drums! They were definitely heard all around machaneh (camp). After chuggim we transitioned into our second peulah (age group activity) of the day. Some younger kvutzot (age groups) headed to the pool, while the bonimot (ages 13) talked about what to expect in high school!

We all headed to practice some fun rikkud (dancing) before heading to hitkansut erev (evening gathering) to lower the flag pole. We soon headed to dinner, had some more free time and then headed to our final activity of the day, which was pasta themed! Our tzevet (staff) ran pasta themed activities like tug of war, spaghetti, and limbo to channel the flexible pasta spirit. We ended the activity by overthrowing the mean pasta king (into the pool), and sang rad hayom, our end of the day song. Tuesday lived up to being terrific and we’re so excited for what tomorrow holds!
