Time Travel Thursday!

Good day Galil Families, and salutations from…the European Renaissance?? Or is it Atlantis the underworld now? No, possibly the Colosseum or Jurassic era?? Who even knows at this point, because it’s Special Day Excellent Adventure!! So come along as I recount the journey we followed through space and time, decades and centuries, and Chadar Ohels (Dining Halls) and Moadons! Waking up to what seemed like a routine day, our chanachimot (campers) made their way to Hitkansut Boker (Flag Raising) just like usual. Then, after a switch over to the Moadon, three classmates suddenly alerted us of an important History test they needed to pass! And if they want to return to Camp Galil next summer? They have to pass, because a summer without Galil? Unbearable. So after a delicious breakfast of waffles, eggs, veggie sausages, and milkshakes (a classic Special Day addition), we were given a TIME MACHINE?!?!

That’s right, your galil-ers boarded a time machine throughout the whole day, starting with the very classic European Renaissance. So with plenty of milk mustaches adorned, we gathered in the Kikar for a Renaissance carnival! From Mona Lisa Painting to Escape the Plague this carnival definitely brought us back to the past, although I might have to skip the Plague next time! Anywho, after plenty of adventures with the Europeans, we helped our classmates learn about Atlantis with a splash-ful round robin! With tanks properly dunked, pools properly swam, and fights properly watered (??) (that doesn’t sound right), we squeaked our way into the Chadar Ohel for a delicious lunch of kebabs!

Then, we enjoyed a game of Dag Maluach, one that needed a lot of silence, which if you know your Galil-ers at all, you know was quite the difficult feat. On a more noisy note, we shifted to a grand game of Trojan War Capture the Flag, because we needed to practice our combat skills for the History test?? Well I’m certainly not complaining because it was a blast! In a more prehistoric shift, we then traveled to the Cavemen era where we enjoyed a round robin that included Firemaking, Spear Hunting, and Pterodactyl feeding (dinosaurs ate Jolly Ranchers, right??) Then, before we enjoyed our Victory Dinner, chanachimot showed off their best hiding skills in a game of Dinosaur Hide and Seek! Eventually, once most kids were found (just jokes, don’t worry they’re not the best hiders), we made our way to the Chadar Ohel one last time to enjoy Fish and Chips (if you count onion rings as chips) with extra tartar sauce please! Finally, on theme with our dinner, we made our way to the (luckily not fish filled) pool for a pool messibah (party) in celebration of us passing our test and returning to camp Galil next summer!!
