Tiyul Part 1

We woke up excited for part one of our tiyul (camping trip) even if the rain tried to stop us! We woke up and fueled up with a delicious meal of Shushuka and pita (or as we like to call it “Shark-shuka”). Chanichimot (campers), after Avodah (work time) and Nikayon (cabin cleaning time), went through a set of nature stations. The first station was getting to make their own tea using ingredients we grow in our own Gan (garden). Chanichimot concocted their perfect mix of mint, lavender, basil and other herbs before letting the tea seep. The next station was the low ropes course where their balance and teamwork were tested  on the “Bermuda” triangle element. The final stop on the rotation was a hike on the Brochove trail that surrounds the camp. On the hike Chanichimot got the chance to skip rocks and some even saw a salamander!

After a full morning of activities, it was time for a classic tiyul sandwich lunch. After lunch and a Chofesh (free time) , it was time for the second round of rotation. This time they did painting with mud, Ballon games and cam log use, and making pita. As a special treat, The Nemirimot got the chance to go back to the high ropes course during this block and attempted the Giants ladder and the zip line! After everyone finished their activities we all came back together to set up our tents for the night.

Soon enough it was time to prep our dinner, Chanichimot worked together to maintain and build a fire and helped prep our campfire dinner which we ate picnic-style potatoes, salad, and kabobs (tofu+meat). After dinner, we all went down to the parking lot to watch parent trap drive-in movie style including sitting in the back of cars and classic smores!

Then all of machen went to their bunks for a well-deserved rest after a big fun first day of tiyul.
