Galil Blog
For the first time since last Wednesday, we returned to our regular schedule, but the day was anything but regular. Our day started with hitkansut boker (morning assembly) and ivrit shimushit (useful hebrew), where we learned the word mifgash, which means meeting. Then, we headed to breakfast for hashbrowns and vegetarian sausages.
After avodah (chores) and nikayon tzrif (cabin cleaning), we were joined again by our friends from the Tinicum Conservancy. We spent some time surrounded by nature at the creek and learned more about how to conserve and improve the environment around Galil. There was a guest educator who is a landscape architect that talked about restoration design and the ideas behind the work we’re doing at the creek.

The chelmites (ages 11-13) took on the ropes course. They zoomed on the zipline, scaled the giants ladder, and traversed the rope crossing. The ropes course provides an opportunity for campers to challenge themselves while having fun and cheer on their friends as they conquer the obstacles. Lunch was grilled cheese and tomato soup, a camp classic.

After lunch, we got moving with sports where we hooped, climbed, ran and swam. The pool stayed open for free swim, and then we had our afternoon kibbud (snack). Our chuggim (interest groups) met again today. Chug podcast got back in the studio for another episode, chug meditation practiced mindfulness, chug meshuga masterpiece (crazy art) played drawing telephone, and chug board games played hues and cues, a game where players musty guess the color from a short description. After shira (singing) and hitkansut erev (evening assembly), we headed to dinner. We had pasta alfredo with a side of flatbread and salad all prepared by our fabulous tzevet mitbach (kitchen staff).

For our tochnit erev (evening activity), we had our annual kangaroo court, where tzevet (staff) are put on trial for their crimes agains the campers. For their crimes, the guilty tzevet had to endure silly punishments such as chugging milk and being covered in hot sauce. Sometimes its nice to have a normal schedule, today showed that even with no special activities, we can still have tons and tons of fun.
