A Wonderful Wednesday

We woke up at 8:00 AM, ready for another exciting day at camp. It was laundry day, so we all brought our laundry to the toren (flagpole) for hitkansut boker (morning assembly). On today’s episode of Ivrit Shimushit (useful Hebrew), we learned the word briut (health) when the health inspector came to the fictional camp in the skit. We sang songs on our way to breakfast, which was waffles.

After breakfast, avodah (chores), and nikayon tzrif (cabin cleaning), the mazalimot (amelimot + chotrimot) went to the ropes course. They spent the late morning and early afternoon in the woods zipping on our zipline and swinging on the tire swings. The rest of the campers had another rotation of sadna’ot (workshops) with the specialists and a peula (activity) with their shichva (age group). For lunch, we pretended to be at Wawa with our turkey hoagies. The heat wave persisted, so the afternoon was spent swimming and engaging in other water activities. As it cooled down later in the afternoon, our chuggim met once again for another round of unique activities. After shira (singing), we headed to dinner, which was country-fried steak and corn on the cob.

For tonightls tochnit erev (evening activity), it was neurodiversity night. We had a rotation of stations that simulated the different obstacles that different types of thinkers face. Through hands-on experiences, campers learned about dyslexia, overstimulation, spoon theory, and sensory needs. We finished up the night by discussing neurodiversity in our age groups. After a long day of learning and fun, we went to bed excited for all we would do the next day.

Joke of the day: How does the sun cut his hair?

Answer: eclipse it!
